Saga of a Nomad

I am a recent graduate of landscape studies having explored the folklore of the Northwoods (Paul and Babe). I have been blessed with adventures that have taken me to the far corners of the world and look forward to continuing this journey.

Lessons from Michael Scott...

I believe the term is "Crawford-esque"...or in my case "Sara-Evan-esque".

Michael Scott (The Office) created the term to describe what he seeks in a female. For him, it's Cindy Crawford. For me, Sara Evans.

Yes, for those of you who don't know, one of my lifetime goals has been to see Sara Evans perform live. Well, maybe not lifetime, but still an event that ranked rather high on my list of things to do. A couple of weeks ago, my roommate, Vaughn, scored a couple of tickets to an 'invite only' Sara Evans event. Neither of us understood where we would be seated until we arrived to the concert. 13th row...on the floor! Let me just state for the record that the concert was everything I had hoped for and more.

But this post is not about the concert or Sara Evans. This post is in reference to Michael Scott's quest for a new companion.

I have had a difficult spring. I think my absence from this site is largely a result of this. What had started off as "The Year of the Maple Leaf" has morphed into something much muddier, less attractive. I have been questioning my life, outlook, and expectations.

I am well-aware that I set lofty goals. I always have and have always worked hard to achieve those goals. But am I like Michael Scott? Unable to recognize the beauty at hand?

This is much more than questioning my views on relationships (although that plays a part). I am questioning my life goals, calling, and place in life. Thus far this year, I have put myself out there more times than I care to count and have come up empty. There is absolutely no peace at present. In fact, it's more of a gut-wrenching torment with the status quo which leads me to believe I am to continue to venture out. However, in exploring new and alternative paths, time-and-again I have found the same response...nothing. I am tired, frustrated, and ready to quit.

If only I could find peace in losing hope.

A real fine place to start...

Ryan and I like to play games. We like to quiz each other on sports, women, and culture. Questions such as: Who's the best NFL team of all time? (Bears!) Top 3 movies of all time? And Who would you have playing in the halftime show of the Super Bowl?

I bring this up because tonight I will see one of my halftime selections perform live!

Finishing in Style...

The season is officially over...and Colorado finished in style.

My Avs closed the regular season with a 4-3 (SO) win over the Wild today. This was a big win. Not only will they meet again later this week in the playoffs, it solidified Colorado's #6 seed. Why is that important? San Jose is the #2 seed and is playing tough right now. That's not to say my Avs couldn't win a series with the Sharks, but if we can wait a round or two before facing them that would be good.

We've had a tough season when it comes to injuries. Tough enough that I've read at least one expert suggest Coach Queneville should be in the running for "Coach of the Year" for keeping the team in the playoffs when Sakic, Smyth, and Statsny were all on injured reserve at the same time late in the season.

A little more time to heal and regroup is much appreciated. Hopefully, we make quick work of the Wild in the first round.

Go AVS!!!

Early morning, April 4...

I believe it's time to begin again. I'm not sure how many of you are out there or how many still check in from time-to-time, but I'm back.

This particular post is not an update per se, but rather an overview of topics to be highlighted in the near future. Curious? Even if you're not, here's a sneak peak of things to come:

Avs...Back in the playoffs!
#4...The Legend of the Frozen Tundra
Women...Need I say more?!
My Car...aka "The Money Pit on Wheels"
Fall 2008...Lord only knows where I'll be.
