Saga of a Nomad

I am a recent graduate of landscape studies having explored the folklore of the Northwoods (Paul and Babe). I have been blessed with adventures that have taken me to the far corners of the world and look forward to continuing this journey.

The Noble Experiment...

The 18th Amendment is often referred to as the Noble Experiment. "Noble" for the high moral standard that was set. "Experiment" in that most would say it didn't work.

Several months ago, at the strong urging of a handful of friends and my pastor, I gave e-Harmony a shot. Since then, I have been introduced to over 300 young women from around the world. A number of the women were interesting individuals. Ten of these women were good matches. Two were very good matches. None worked out.

My time with e-Harmony ran out this past weekend. Was this a "noble experiment"? I'd say yes. Singleness can be a burden at times. Just knowing that there are Godly single women out there can be an encouragement, even if the timing is not right.

Sweetheart Days

I recently returned from Sweetheart Days. Although the festival was more or less a bust, the parade was well attended and was a lot of fun.

Highlight? After two days in the hot summer sun, I decided to visit the floats and talk to the participants before the parade and skip out of town early. On my way out of town I happened to pass a car and I noticed a young lady driving. I quickly pulled a U-turn, parked right behind her car, and ran up to her door.

ME: "Excuse me. Are you from Kansas?"

CINDY: "JOHN!" (as she was snapped back into her seat by her seat belt while trying to stand up and give me a hug)

Who's "Cindy"? Cindy is my pastor's wife here in Manhattan.

Small world.

Bailey the Blue Ox

After a month-and-a-half on the road, it's good to be home. I've taken two back-to-back trips up north to celebrate the legends of the past. The first trip was to Akeley, MN, for Paul Bunyan Days. The second was to Hackensack, MN, for Sweetheart Days.

Along the way, I visited Paul, Babe, and Lucette (Paul's "sweetheart"), and met one of Paul's newest friends: Bailey the Blue Ox.

Happy Canada Day!

Good day, eh?!
