Saga of a Nomad

I am a recent graduate of landscape studies having explored the folklore of the Northwoods (Paul and Babe). I have been blessed with adventures that have taken me to the far corners of the world and look forward to continuing this journey.

Feeling the weight...

This past weekend, I think I learned a lesson in life.

I'm beginning to feel the weight of not knowing. Not knowing where I'm going, where I'll be working, and what the heck I'm doing. I leave for the Philippines this coming Sunday and will return two weeks later to a land that is no longer my home.

Thursday past, I said goodbye to a number of friends that I have met with for the past five years. It was only after the last so long that the significance of it all began to set in. These people, these friends, had become an integral part of my experience here in the Flint Hills. I've enjoyed their company, but I don't think I'll be seeing them again, at least not in this setting.

I have no idea where this path I have chosen is leading. Upon returning from this upcoming trip, I have no insight as to where I'll be living, working, or fellowshipping. The future is empty...boundless and unlimited...but empty.

My cousin, Lindsay, graduated from high school last weekend. My grandmother traveled with my aunt from northern Minnesota to celebrate the occasion. Saturday night, after the graduation party, the three of us and my cousin Stuart traveled to downtown Wichita for Riverfest. We listened to a pops concert and watched fireworks and enjoyed each others company.

I think I know what I'm looking for, I'm just not sure where to look.

“Embrace relational uncertainty.
It’s called Romance.
Embrace spiritual uncertainty.
It’s called Mystery.
Embrace occupational uncertainty.
It’s called Destiny.
Embrace emotional uncertainty.
It’s called Joy.
Embrace intellectual uncertainty.
It’s called Revelation.”

I'm quite certain that anything you're considering can be re-considered...or undone (if you're considering something monumentally life changing like committing a felony, we *have* to talk)
"You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. And you know what you know. You are the guy who'll decide where to go"
“And will you succeed? Yes indeed, yes indeed! Ninety-eight and three-quarters percent guaranteed!”
Thank you dr. Seuss.
